A better quit applet for GNOME Quit Applet Plus is a Python/GTK-based prototype for an advanced quit applet for Ubuntu (Gnome).The goal of this project is to implement some ideas and present the results to ubuntu desktop team. The ideas can be then adopted in ubuntu or just used for your own prototyping.The final goal for Ubuntu quit applet is "You will start Ubuntu just to try it again!"Installation:No fear: it's only a prototype, your system settings will be not touched, only some files will be installed. Neither gconf entries nor local settings are made. Shut down and another quit actions will be not really performed. It is and will be stay just a graphical prototype (fake).The project is currently (2008-11-23) available as the first alpha version.Installation (tested on Hardy and Intrepid):* add follow line to your sources list (the distribution is "hardy", but you can also use this line unmodified for Intrepid, see "Known problems" below) deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/krokosjablik/ubuntu hardy main* reload source lists sudo apt-get update * install "quit-applet-plus" package sudo apt-get install quit-applet-plus * right click on the gnome panel and choose "Add to Panel"* search for "Quit Applet Plus" and add it to the panel (see "known problems" below)Known problems* if you cannot find the applet in the applet dialog , perform "killall gnome-panel" (the panel will be restarted automatically) or just log out and log in (I don't know how to solve this problem, if you do, please just comment the solution here, thank you)* for Intrepid (Ubuntu 8.10) users: Synaptic doesn't show the "quit-applet-plus" package after you updated and reloaded the sources, the workaround is just to use "apt-get install" as above. Requirements: · Python · GNOME What's New in This Release: · All planned features are implemented, it should be the first and last beta. If no show stoppers will be discovered, it will be the final 1.0.0 version (except adding new translations).
