Temple Garden is a fascinating slideshow screensaver including 10 photographs of the former Premonstratensian provost church The former Premonstratensian provost church, one of the most important monuments of late Romanesque and early Gothic architecture in Hungary, is today a Reformed church.A pair of towers which were heightened in the 1920's frame the western facade of this three-nave, cross-aisle basilican church. There is no westward entrance. The rustic stone facades are ornamented by the stone carvings of the entrances and the arcading ornamentation of the cornices and ledges. Other interesting details are the spandrel and the column heads of the tiered, round-arched southern doorway. The partially restored northern door is similar but somewhat plainer in its detail.The continuous wall paintings of the main sanctuary date from the late 13th century and were rediscovered in 1900. Restored using the most up-to-date technology they are now the pride of the church. As for the interior sculptural ornamentation the compound pillars are of significance, next to the capitals of the wall piers. The capitals are ornamented with buds, leaves and animal figures and in places there are traces of painted red lines which provide a hint as to how they may once have looked.Temple Garden is a fascinating slideshow screensaver including 10 photographs of this monument.
