jVLT Description

Free and open source vocabulary learning tool jVLT is a free application that will help you learn vocabulary skills. Examples containing one or many of the vocabulary words may be specified. jVLT also can perform quizzes using a flash card system which is similar to the selective learning system proposed by German psychologist Sebastian Leitner. If you are interested to better memorize the usage of a word, during a quiz jVLT shows examples for each word. Here are some key features of "jVLT": · As jVLT is written in JAVA, it runs on many platforms, including Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. · The data storage format is (zipped) XML, making it possible to easily convert your vocabulary into other formats, e.g. for displaying it on a web page. · You can perform complex searches (e.g. "Show me all the words that occurred in a quiz during the last three days"). · The vocabulary list (or a part of it) can be printed. · CSV (comma separated values) files can be used to import words and examples. Requirements: · Java What's New in This Release: · During a quiz, you can now ignore the expiry date, so words that you knew during the last quiz can be quizzed again immediately. · It's possible to flag words as inactive, thus excluding them from future quizzes. · When entering new words you can use existing words as a template. This allows to enter similar words more quickly than before. · Vocabulary table and word dialog can now have a custom font for original and pronunciation. · You can now safely remove words while being in a quiz.
