Video On Demand (VOD) for QuickTime filmkey.ch introduces the first solution for protected Video on Demand that works for both Macintosh and Windows users. This enables also Macintosh users to view films with Digital Rights Management (DRM).The solution consists of: - The Filmkey Encoder application that works with quite any QuickTime file. This includes MPEG1, MPEG3, MPEG4 files. The protected files can be distributed by download from any webserver.- The free Filmkey Player that the user can install on Macintosh and Windows computers.- A central license server managed by filmkey.ch that handles the key. The key is not stored by the user and the Filmkey Player does not allow to copy the movie.Note: Whenever you view a film, the Filmkey server stores two parameters: Your IP-number and an unique ID which is created for your computer.This unique ID is oneway encrypted and it is not possible to reverse-identify your computer or you. Its only purpose is to create a license which is unique to your computer.
