Camera Mouse Description
Camera Mouse is a comprehensive application that enables you to control the mouse pointer using your head or any other object you can place and move in front of the webcam. The primary purpose of the application is to help people with disabilities, meaningly those who are incapable of moving their bodies below the neck, to use their computer. After you install the application and run it, it automatically scans your computer in search for a connected webcam. The application works well with both USB and built-in webcams. When the video feed is identified, it’s displayed inside the main window of the application. To be able to move the mouse cursor with your head motion you first have to set a point on your face that you want the application to track. You can do this by simply picking the rectangle shape, that the application provides you with, and placing it over a distinctive feature on your face. This way, Camera Mouse tracks the movement of that shape across the screen and applies that movement to the mouse cursor. For the best possible results, it’s recommended that you use a high quality camera that delivers a clear and noise free picture. This is important because with low quality cameras the application can have a hard time tracking the selected feature. Double clicking is of course possible. A double click is executed when you position and hold the cursor over a portion of the screen for a certain amount of time. The delay time can be set by you according to how you manage to handle the cursor. The application also enables you to switch the control from one device to the other. This can be done automatically after the mouse stains inactive for a certain period or when a key is pressed. In closing, Camera Mouse si by all means a practical application to have if you are incapable of using the mouse cursor with your hands.
