ComPort/IP Client Description
ComPort/IP Client is an application that connects to a remote host where either Terminal Server or ComPort/IP Server is running, collects data from a TCP/IP port of a remote computer and sends it to serial port(s) of a local computer. You will be able to use ComPort/IP Client and ComPort/IP Server in order to create a bridge between COM-ports of remote computers, to transfer data from a remote serial port to a local serial port via TCP/IP network. ComPort/IP Client overrides the restriction of device-bundled or specialized software that offers full control over the device on local machine only. With ComPort/IP Client it is possible to implement full control of a remote serial device using standard network protocols like TCP/IP. In order to create the bridge-connection, ComPort/IP Server should be run on one machine and ComPort/IP Client on another. The next logical step to perform within the applications is to select serial ports on both machines as well as corresponding TCP/IP ports. ComPort/IP Client should be run with selected serial port, which you would like to connect to a serial port of a computer running ComPort/IP Server. You would need to enter TCP/IP address and port number of a remote computer. In order to test the newly created bridge-connection one can use a null-modem cable or actually connect two machines running ComPort/IP Server and ComPort/IP Client respectively. If all goes well, you should be able to manage COM2-port device of a remote computer running ComPort/IP Server from your computer running ComPort/IP Client (on COM1-port) as if it was your local COM2-port device.
