GetWhois Description

GetWhois is a simple and portable Windows application that retrieves registration information on domains. It does not comprise advanced options or configuration parameters, so it can be handled by users of any experience level, including novices. Portability perks Since there is no installation involved, you can put the program files in any directory on the hard disk and just click the executable to run. Another option is to save a copy of GetWhois to a USB flash disk or other mass storage device, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and without previously installing anything. An important aspect to take into consideration is that the Windows registry and Start menu are not updated with new entries, leaving the HDD clean after removal. Simplistic interface The user-friendly GUI is represented by a single window with a "what you see is what you get" layout, since there are no other options available aside from the ones shown. Quickly get registration info So, all you have to do is type or paste a domain's URL, and click a button to immediately get registration details. These include the domain name, Whois server, referral URL, name server, status, together with date of creation, expiration and last update. Although GetWhois does not integrate buttons for printing the information or exporting it to file for closer inspection and safekeeping, it is possible to select text and copy it to the Clipboard using the global hotkey or context menu. The app does not put a strain on computer performance, as it runs on low CPU and memory. It executes commands rapidly and works smoothly, without triggering Windows to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. We have not come across any issues in our tests. The conclusion All in all, GetWhois is not feature-rich but it serves its purpose and can be handled by all users who want to immediately getch registration data on domains.
