Gwennel Web Description

Gwennel Web will provide users with a WYSIWYG editor for Wikipedia and other Mediawiki sites. It allows to easily edit pages without knowing the tedious wiki syntax. This is a list of features not implemented yet but that should be available soon: · CAPTCHAs · Creating new pages · Upload images · Add new attributes to images · Creating and deleting references · Load and save pages locally · Find and replace · Find a page using keywords · Moving categories and interwiki links outside of the page · Remember login between sessions NOTE: Gwennel Web is currently in an early development process. There is a lot of missing features but is perfectly usable for most common edit tasks. Main features: WYSIWYG and WYSIWYM: Common formatting styles are rendered as is, such as bold or italic text. Advanced features rely on the WYSIWYM edition style: rather than showing the final result, it shows the source data. For instance, the parameters of a template are edited in a table. Small, Fast and Portable: The program is less than 1 MB on disk. It is fast and responsive, even with slower machines. The program is portable: it does not require any installation, so you can copy it on a USB key and run it anywhere. Good Support of the Wiki Syntax: Gwennel Web is able to deal with most features of the wiki syntax, but in some cases, such as complex tables, generic HTML elements (, <span>, ...) or broken syntax, it degrades them gracefully as raw source text. This way the other parts of the page are still editable as WYSIWYG. Nothing to Install on Server: It does not require to install an extension on server, so it works with most existing Mediawiki installations (version >= 1.16) and it does not depend on a particular version of PHP. History Friendly: When a page is saved, only changed paragraphs are altered. So it won't create superfluous differences in the history. This is an important feature to permit the collaboration with people who prefer to edit the wiki text directly. Outlining: Headings are displayed in a tree view on the left of the window providing an overview of the all pages and a quick way to go to a particular section.
