Load Tester Description

Load Tester is a specially created instrument that acts as a testing environment for web applications and other type of programs. Load Tester is a simple, small and useful tool built with the help of the Java programming language that can run on various platforms. Main features: Ability to create highly flexible testing scripts, including: Control of different users and authentication Changing query string parameters and POST data Custom HTTP headers. Ability to define what a "bad request" is, based on HTTP status code or text inside the reply document. SSL support (https) Note the tool is HTTP 1.1 compliant, and supports persistent connections, chunked transfer encoding, "100 Continue", Host header, etc.) Detailed data reporting, including: Min/max/avg response time for all requests Min/max/avg response size for all requests Time and size of every single individual request (if desired). If images are loaded, #images for each request and breakdown of time and size statistics for the images, separate from the initial html page. Further breakdown of time statistics for full image load vs. checking If-Modified-Since headers. Three types of graphs in addition to textual data - Timeline, Average response time, Average response size (in bytes). Large number of runtime options: Control length of test based on a number of request that must be fulfilled, or by a fixed amount of time. Control whether html pages are parsed and images loaded, and how often "If-Modified-Since" headers are used, to mimic a real browser. Control of cookies Control of persistent connections (a.k.a. Keep-alive) Control of redirects Control of "ramp-up" delay for the first request of each virtual user Control of "pauses" in between requests, to mimic real users Ability to run the whole test without using any graphics so that you can run the program remotely. (For example in a Telnet window, where graphics are not supported, or on a slow VPN where sending the graphics back over the network would clog it.) Graphics are saved to image and HTML files so you can view any time.
