YouTube Downloader is an extremely easy-to-use utility for downloading YouTube videos as FLV files. The program lacks a Help file, but it includes instructions in the application window itself. You can search for videos using the search box, then drag the text title of a result onto the giant logo to begin a download. As an alternative, you can paste a YouTube URL directly into the search box to initiate a download. The application quickly and successfully downloaded each video URL that we submitted. When each download is complete, the application lets you save the file to a specific location or continue downloading more videos. The program also offers the option to watch the video using its own built-in video player, but we could not get the player to launch. The interface for YouTube Downloader is crude and unsophisticated, and it lacks the ability to set a default directory or download files in batch. But for the casual downloader, this program is pretty perfect in its simplicity.
