MoveToTray Description

MoveToTray is a tiny application with a pretty self-explanatory name - it allows you to send applications from the taskbar to the system tray area. It can be seamlessly figured out, even by less experienced users. This is a portable program, so installing MoveToTray is not necessary. It means that you can store the tool on a USB flash drive or any other removable device, save it to any computer and directly run its executable file. Therefore, you can carry MoveToTray with you whenever you're on the move. In addition, the Windows Registry is not updated with new entries, and no leftover items can be found on the hard drive after program removal. When the tool is initialized, it automatically minimizes to the system tray area. The interface of MoveToTray is based on a small, standard window which displays how-to instructions. So, all you have to do is use the Ctrl+Alt+M key combination within any window, in order to send the respective app to the system tray automatically. The lightweight program runs on a very low amount of CPU and system memory, so it shouldn't put a strain on any computer. It is very responsive to commands and worked smoothly during our evaluation; no errors popped up and MoveToTray did not freeze or crash. On the downside, you cannot keep an application in the system tray area with the help of this utility. Once you bring up its window, its icon is removed from the tray. Thus, you have to use the hotkeys every time you want to repeat the process. Reviewed by Elena Opris, last updated on February 13th, 2013
