Mp3 Filter is a lightweight cross-platform utility built specifically for helping you find duplicate audio files stored in your computer or on different CDs. It sports a clean interface that allows you to start the scanning process for duplicate files on the fly. Less experienced users may opt for the step-by-step guidance or configure the dedicated parameters directly from the primary panel. The application offers support for the following file formats: MP3, MP4A, M4P, WMA and OGG. Mp3 Filter enables you to create different profiles by adding the name and comment, as well as picking the files and folders to be scanned, exclude the files with the specified minimum word count and length, pick a comparison type (file content, artist and title) and file priority criterion (size, extension, duration and bitrate), as well as make file associations. The program offers time estimation for completing the job and, at the end of the task it generates a list with the scanning results and lets you perform several file management operations, such as delete, move or copy the selected items. You can also view details about the select audio file, namely path, size, duration, bitrate, artist, title, album, genre, comments, and others. It is important to mention that hotkeys are also available for a better control of the entire process, but they cannot be reassigned. Of course, the scanning procedure may take some time, especially if you have a huge musical collection in the computer. All things considered, Mp3 Filter is a useful application, able to find and eliminate duplicate audio files. It cannot compete with other top products from its category, as it lacks many advanced features.
