MyProxy Description

MyProxy is a lightweight Windows application whose purpose is to help you filter your Internet browsing sessions by blocking unwanted advertisements and popups. Aside from its ad filtering capabilities, the tool promises to boost your web browser speed using DNS lookups, share your Internet connection with other computers in the LAN, redial multiple lines until a connection is established, and keep track of how much traffic and money you have spent every day and month. The tool acts as a proxy between you and your ISP, and accelerates your connection by caching images and filtering advertisements. Prior configuration settingsWhen you run the utility for the first time, you are required to follow the steps included in a configuration wizard. You are allowed to choose the language, select your Internet connection (dialup, GPRS, VPN, DSL with login/password, any connection without authentication parameters or combined connection), as well as set up proxy parameters (address, port, login and password). System tray running modeMyProxy can be found sitting in your system tray area and one left click on its icon gives you quick access to the main features of the utility, namely open the dialer, check out the configuration panel, show stats and history, view the detected banners, as well as alter the cache and filter mode. Dialer, stats, history and detected bannersThe tool enables you to create a list with the phone numbers that you can easily dial, automatically reconnect after a custom time, as well as set up authentication parameters (login, password and domain). The Statistics panel provides an overview with your total Internet traffic for the current day, week and month (send, received and total kilobytes, online time, cost). What’s more you can view history data about users, IP addresses, URL, size and HTTP, block the selected URL, disable the cache process, as well as limit the log size on the disk to a user-defined value. In addition, you can view a list with detected or blocked URLs, and block the selected one. Tweak the cache and filter modeYou can make the application cache text, images or other items, block SWF files, as well as choose between different ad filters, namely filter by list or enable the optimal or paranoid mode. Configuration settings MyProxy enables you to accept or block all cookies, turn on the auto dial/hang up mode, enable the traffic compressor, preload links, compress data (and exclude several file types from this option), specify the cache folder, adjust the rate system (hourly and traffic rates), and enable sound notifications. Bottom lineAll in all, MyProxy comes with a smart suite of tools for helping you accelerate your Internet connection, and is suitable for all types of users, regardless of their experience level. On the downside, it hasn’t been updated for a long time and we’ve experienced bugs on Windows 8.1 Pro while testing it, as it froze several times and became unresponsive.
