NoteCable is an MP3/MP4/WAV file converter for Windows. There are so many converters out there that is hard to know which one to keep. NoteCable seemed like it was going to be good, but after using it for a few seconds I knew it was not a contender. It is missing many features that are essential in my opinion. For example, when you add a file to convert it, it will be placed in a list. From there, you can only play the file with the inbuilt player or convert it. You can't even choose what format you want to convert it to. For that, you have to go to Options and select an output format, which will apply to all the files in the queue. It should not be that hard to add individual encoding options. Also, NoteCable installs a Virtual Sound driver on your computer, which is not Vista-certified. Sometimes, simpler is better, and NoteCable didn't get the memo. All that and a not-so-good graphical user interface turned my attention back to my regular converters. Performance-wise, NoteCable does a good job of converting files. However, there are many other converters out there that are free and convert into every format that you can think of. If you have DRM-protected content, the virtual sound driver can actually allow you to get rid of the protection, but at a price. José Fernández Editor rating:
