prev next StartWrite is a neat compact application designed to help you produce materials to teach handwriting. It comes with a number of pre-defined lessons ready for printing and using, as well as with an extensive list of fonts and clipart elements for you to design your own writing materials with. It includes all the features you need to produce high-quality, professional-looking handwriting sheets, such as a wide variety of dotted-letter fonts, three customizable guidelines to frame the text, stroke lines and letter start dots, etc. The practice sheets you can create with StartWrite may also include a number of graphical elements that helps the pupils to recognize the words they are practicing – the program includes tens of black and white and color drawings that you can use to attach a meaning to each word in a funny way. Besides, the program includes mathematical, clocks, and money fonts that you can use to design basic exercises to practice these areas. Mathematical fonts use either flags or whales to help pupils learn small numbers, while money fonts use coins and bills for basic money-based calculations. Clocks fonts show analog clocks with different times (in five minute intervals), useful to help children recognize times and calculate time differences. StartWrite works using text and art boxes. You can create, move, and combine these boxes in any way you wish, giving you all the flexibility you need to create high-quality and attractive layouts. Finally, the program can be used to create handwriting materials using either English or Spanish texts - by using specific key stroke combinations you can insert lowercase and uppercase letters with accents, as well as other symbols and letters required for some Spanish texts (open question mark, open exclamation mark, etc.).
