iTunes Sleep Timer is a lightweight tool that can be helpful for the iTunes users who need to add a sleep function to their favorite music player. It is designed to automatically stop the playback after a predefined time interval. Unfortunately, the application is based on the Yahoo! Widget Engine which has been discontinued in 2012. Although it is still available, it is not actively maintained nor updated which means that the widget might not work with the latest version of iTunes. As you might have guessed from the widget name, it is designed to add a timer to the iTunes playback and to turn off the player when the timer expires. It features a simple interface that displays the remaining time and allows you to cancel the sleep action before it finishes. The widget enables you to enter the desired time interval and to change the font that is used for the timer window. Unfortunately, you cannot schedule the app to pause the playback at a certain moment. If you want the playback to stop at 6 o'clock you have to estimate the time interval by yourself. Unlike other tools that simply stop the song, this app easily fades the volume to zero before pausing the playback. It is a useful feature for the users that tend to notice and be disturbed by sudden changes in their environment. Overall, iTunes Sleep Timer is a useful tool for stopping the iTunes playback.
