BlazeDVD Professional Description

BlazeDVD Professional plays back any DVD, Video-CD, audio CD, and any video file in any of the most popular formats, such as XviD, WMV, MPEG-4, QuickTime, and Real Media. It comes with some interesting extra features that will allow you to add parental control settings, to record full videos or just their soundtrack, and to enhance your viewing experience by applying some basic image corrections. The player itself is a simple yet neat piece of work. So simple that it will make you wonder what makes this player “Professional” as compared to similar “standard” software DVD players. Actually, I believe that it’s not its playback capabilities that make it stand above the rest, but maybe some of its extra features. One of them is the possibility of recording any playing DVD into a separate video file on the fly. You can choose to record only the selected audio track, and save it as a FLAC, WAV, MP3, or Ogg file. The choice of playable video codecs is also outstanding – AVI, MP4, RMVB, RM, MPEG, QT, FLV, as well as some HD videos, such as M2TS (Blu-ray quality), AVCHD, MPEG-2 HD, MKV, etc. It is a pity that it can’t play Blu-ray discs, even though MTS and M2TS are in the list of supported codecs. On the contrary, it offers you the possibility of playing back other disc formats that are barely used today, such as VCD and SVCD. Parental control, DVD to video conversion, frame capture, or the possibility of viewing two films at the same time (?) are some of its most relevant extra features. Enough to make you, at least, try this “unusual” DVD player. Francisco Martínez Editor rating:
